Add a little Happy Hour to your Monday

Caramel Bourbon Martini

The definition of a martini is a cocktail made with gin and vermouth with a lemon twist or an olive, but when it comes to food and cocktails I don't always follow the rules. And, I will never apologize for Bourbon. I didn't have Vermouth on hand so I ran out to pick some up and much to my dismay...the wine department in my local grocer didn't have it available. Never one to give up easily I scanned by brain and the aisles for an alternative. I got what I could find and oh what a happy substation this turned out to be.

This was my first attempt at a Bourbon Martini and in a rare twist of events, I actually got this one right on the first try, in spite of my shopping woes. Now, I don't mind the occasional (frequent) 'oops' in the cocktail department because they are usually pretty tasty. But, I do LOVE it when I get something right on the first try and oh boy did I get this one right. What I came up with was better than I could have imagined and even my husband, who prefers his bourbon a little less feisty, enjoyed this one.

Ingredients

4 oz Bourbon

2 oz Bristol Cream Sherry

2 oz Kahlua

2 splashes Bitters

1 tbsp. Caramel Sauce (recipe available on my blog)

Ice

Instructions

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add all ingredients to the cocktail shaker. Shake, pour into martini glass and Enjoy!

Give this a try. I'd love the hear your comments.
