Bourbon Caramel Butter Cream

This buttercream recipe is delicious and has a little kick from the bourbon caramel…who doesn’t love a little bourbon with their dessert?! Add this to your favorite cake, brownie or cookie for a little extra frosted bliss.


  • 1 ½ stick unsalted butter

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar

  • ½ cup bourbon caramel (recipe can be found here)

  • ½ teaspoon sea salt (optional)


Soften butter at room temperature or 30 seconds on defrost cycle of microwave, but do not melt the butter.

With hand mixer whip butter until smooth.

Add caramel. Mix on low to combine.

Slowly add confectioners’ sugar and mix on low until smooth and well blended. Sprinkle in sea salt and combine or top with sea salt after your dessert is frosted.
