Kelly Carper Detterman
Boozeberry Smash
Bourbon is my go to drink and this is my favorite cocktail right now. Stay tuned for many favorites.
I never like to drink alone so this recipe as with most of my recipes is intended for two. If by some chance I am drinking alone (or my drinking partner isn’t up for bourbon…I know, I know who isn’t up for bourbon?!) feel free to cut the recipe in half, or have a double.
Ingredients
2 ounces simple syrup (for an easy homemade simple syrup click here)
8 fresh mint leaves
2 limes
¼ cup blueberries
4 ounces bourbon
2 ounces seltzer
Directions
Put the simple syrup, mint leaves and juice from 1 ½ limes into a cocktail shaker and muddle them until mint is fragrant and blueberries are broken down. Add the bourbon and fill the shaker with ice; using a long cocktail spoon, stir vigorously until very cold.
Fill rocks glasses with ice and use a fine strainer to strain the drink into each glass. Add a splash of seltzer to the top of each. Garnish each drink with a sprig of mint, lime wedge and extra blueberries to serve.
